At the Landau Law Shop, Herndon Disability lawyer Doug Landau was contacted by several families with bad outcomes as the result of using a volume law firm that failed to prepare their all important Federal cases. While we normally meet with clients, their families and prepare them well in advance of their court date, these firms meet their clients minutes before they are to appear before an Administrative Law Judge ! These cases tugged at our heart strings. In one case, the family was represented by a non-attorney "representative." Another family contacted Social Security lawyer Landau after their lawyer did not file the medical records they procured with the Federal Government and the case was lost. Abrams Landau staff was told that in another case, the family’s representative presented no vocational expert evidence to counter the Federal Government’s vocational expert’s testimony that the disabled claimant could do numerous jobs found in the national economy. And lastly, in an Hearing that took an unexpected turn, the family came to court, was sworn in, sent from the room and NEVER called by the lawyer to testify in support of their son’s case ! That case was also lost.

What is the lesson ? Not that you need to hire Doug Landau. But rather, if you, a family member or a friend have a Social Security Disability claim, do not leave it to a non attorney, do not entrust it to some volume "case mill," and certainly do not wait until the last minute to file records and prepare for the Hearing. Make sure the disability lawyer you retain for your head, brain or spine injury claim is experienced, has won your kind of case and will actually prepare you well ahead of time and explain the process and work with you and your family. Do not hire a lawyer just because your LTD insurance company says you have to or because they have fancy TV ads. Hire a lawyer and law firm that actually knows how to prepare a disabled worker AND their family. Put your family’s safety and well being first, not fancy advertising or insurance company pressure.
