Loudoun Lyme Disease Fair to Educate Leesburg, Broadlands & Ashburn Residents

Comments Off

With so many Broadlands, Ashburn and other Loudoun County neighbors and friends suffering from Lyme disease, an Informational Fair to educate public deserves to be publicized. The first annual Loudoun Lyme 5K and family 1km fun run will raise funds to combat serious disease plaguing Fairfax Loudoun and Prince William County residents. At the Herndon law firm ABRAMS LANDAU, we have disabled clients who have Lyme Disease that complicates their car crash, slip and fall and workplace injury claims. Disability lawyer Doug Landau will be supporting this worthy cause, racing this weekend and learning more about Lyme Disease.

Lyme disease is the number one tick-borne illness in the USA. Lyme Disease affects Loudoun County more than any other county in Virginia. The Loudoun Lyme 5K will also feature a 1K family walk and informational fair to educate the public about the disease, its causes, and treatments. Home to the third largest number of Lyme’s cases in the nation, Loudoun County Virginia is facing a Lyme disease epidemic, with 22 percent of the state’s reported cases occurring in the county. According to the CDC, the US has 24,000 new cases of Lyme disease. However, the disease is difficult to diagnose and that figure may be 10 times as great.

The 5km race starts at 8am, registration at 7am. Fair runs until 12pm noon on Sunday, May 15th, 2011 at the National Conference Center. The race organizers have invited

  • · Health Department officials
  • · Lyme Disease Experts
  • · Medical and veterinary doctors and specialists

Proceeds benefit National Capital Lyme Disease Association, a nonprofit offering education and support. The Loudoun Lyme 5K will have an informational fair with booths from local businesses, the medical community, vendors, and children’s activities.
