Reporting Maryland, Virginia and DC Drunk Drivers

Comments Off

You see a car weaving on the Maryland Beltway, or speeding down the Dulles Toll Road or putting on the wrong turn signals in the District of Columbia. What do you do when you think that an impaired motorist is on the road, driving dangerously ? Washington area law enforcement officials are urging sober drivers to report suspected drunk driving as soon as they witness it.

  • Drivers should pull over and call 911 in D.C. or Maryland or #77 if in Virginia.

Given that on most nights of the week, citizen drivers outnumber police cruisers by at least 1,000 to 1, the safe drivers can have an impact, said Kurt Erickson of the Washington Regional Alcohol Program. "If would-be drunk drivers grow increasingly fearful of being reported by their fellow motorists," Erickson said, "we can potentially stop drunk driving before it starts." At the Herndon law firm of ABRAMS LANDAU, Ltd., Virginia injury lawyer Doug Landau has seen firsthand the devastation caused by drunk drivers in the DC Metro area. Car crashes caused by inebriated drivers result in permanent physical injuries, property damage and even death. Landau has called in to report unsafe drivers and will continue to do so when others lawfully on the road are threatened by a motorist who has consumed dangerous amounts of alcohol, drugs or both.
